On Guam Island he was a B29 mechanic. He was one of those guys involved in ending the war with Japan. I grew up Around WW1 vets. A different kind of war where there was a degree of respect on the battlefield. I knew one as A pow and he told me how well the Germans treated him, And at the time my Uncle Ken Fisher was a POW in Viet Nam. A diffrn't story all together. I served in the 4th. Inf.Div. As a scout sniper I was a rogue had no spotter went on my own with intel. given me. And terminated targets, There were times I found myself; A child again wanting my Mom. So damn frightend. Especially during a thunderstorm with Lightning that came so Close, I wondered if God was telling Me Go Back don't do this. After all my training I Question the allmighty. I went on did what I had to to do cause many depended on it. I figured he was scaring them away from me so I could do what was neccessary. I never Looked backed, And Have No regrets for what I did in War, And Niether should you. Am sorry of the loss of your Brother I grieve with you my Dear Fellow Survivor..........Best Wishes Sgt. WE as "Soldiers" regardless of branch Marine, Army, Navy or Air Force, Coast Guard whether it be Active, Reserves, or National Guard we are all brothers and sisters. I have taught children we are family under one umbrella; one child & daughter in law served in the Marines and the other child getting ready to leave for basic US Air Force. We have long family History serving our country from all branches w/the exception of the Coast Guard. Regardless we know what is right, Integrity First; Service Before Self; and Excellence In All We Do. Situational Awareness. I understand that this is disturbing that someone would lie how they served and what metals received is wrong. I too have served in the military and unhappy of those who take it too far. They lack core values.

Re: ‘Coast Guard Florida’ Sails to a TV Screen Near You

Congratulations..these brave men and women need to be recognized for their service.

Re: TRICARE Increasing Coverage Costs for Retired Military

I read where they ask why did Obama not throw this out, lets talk about this....it was drafted in 2007, the house was a democratic heavy house, Bush vetoed a bill on Oct 2007 that stopped this....now can we get back to the issue, Obama will not veto this, your smart, if Benghazi does not explain why, then I feel no sympathy for you....if you voted for Obama, well I find it humorous that your feeling the pain of your own stupidity not mine and especially not the good president BUSH

Re: Military Disability Compensation Rate Tables

the va mistreats all of our veterans who deserve and earned that money! you deserve more than that! its ashamed that people get housing food stamps and ssi and they arent even from this country! is that what we are fighting for!!! what a disgrace

Re: Military Disability Compensation Rate Tables

Our problems with the VA have been going on for longer than I have dealt with them which is 38 years, stay after them, talk with congressmen and senators, that has helped me somewhat over the years but puts a black mark on the VA records about you.

Re: Using Veteran’s Preference Points to Your Advantage

I'm a veteran and have had the same problems. There are federal laws that cover preference, you have to file a complaint with the department of labor first within60 days. From then if you win, you are put in the job a back payed. There are some redress procedures, but like any govt. problem you have to fill out the paper work.
Sam T.

Re: Watch 5 Civilians Suffer Through an MRE Taste Test

When my husband was active duty in the Air Force, we were stationed at Pope AFB, NC, a support base for Fort Bragg Army base, and we would go to the dump(it was allowed then, to go through things people had thrown away), and find furniture that was in really good shape, etc, but the thing we really looked for, when we knew a platoon had just come back from an exercise. They would bring all the MRE's that were left over, and some canned goods that hadn't been opened-coffee cake, cookies & crackers with cheese spread, etc, and I take them home and run the cans through the dishwasher, & the stuff was really good. Our base here was one that got closed, and I don't thing that is allowed at "sanitation disosal" places any more. We thought it was such a shame that they would throw so much perfectly good food away!

Re: Purple Heart Group Says ‘No’ to Award for PTSD

to those that say that PTSD is treatable so is a bullet wound

Re: Purple Heart Group Says ‘No’ to Award for PTSD

As a veterean that whose vehicle was hit by an IED during OIF III I believe that there should be some award given to ANY veteran hit directly by enemy fire I know that anyone near firt gets a CAB but the people who are ACTUALLY HIT should get more than the CAB that the entire convoy gets

Re: Veterans Day: Improve Your Military Intel

Yes, let's not forget the Cuban Missile Crisis...Approximately 61 days on base at March AFB. From there, one would go to 'Nam or Thailand for 89 days, come back to Anderson for one day, and go back over for another 90 day. Usually one would get 4-90's or equivalent to nearly one year! That way, troop strength was hidden and no one in the public sector KNEW what was going on! This is how the early buildup was done...

Re: Did Your State Vote to Expand Veterans Benefits?

The vet claims in Oakland are still behind.
